What we stand for
We produce garden and forestry tools with heart and soul. We are passionate about gardening and forestry, about nature and outdoor activities. We use only the best materials and apply the most advanced production techniques for the highest possible quality. We are always there for our customers. We are a fourth-generation family business and work together as a community.
Our story
In 1919, after returning from the First World War, young blacksmith Josef Schmitt helped his father Philipp Schmitt build a new forge.
In 1921, Josef received his master craftsman's certificate and opened the "Hammerwerk Gebrüder Schmitt" with his brother Otto. Production soon expanded to axes, hatchets and other tools.
In the 1930s, the "ADLER" brand was created. Today, Tobias Schmitt, Josef's great-grandson, leads the company in its fourth generation. Over more than 100 years, the small village forge has grown into an international specialist for forged forestry and garden tools.

WHAT WE AIM FOR
To help people discover and sustain the joy of gardening and forestry through the production of first-class tools. We are always on hand to advise and support our customers.
Our tools are available in variable handle lengths and colours. We use exclusively tested carbon steels (C45 and C60) for our tool heads.
Our handles are made from European FSC®-certified ash (FSC-C020505) or original American hickory. We use only water-based, biodegradable lacquers for our handles.
Our tools are secured with a double safety wedging system using a wooden wedge and metal ring. We offer a lifetime guarantee on tool heads. Our tools are made in Germany.
